The Consulate General of India, Chicago, organized the 7th #AyurvedaDay2022 on 21st October 2022, which attracted close to 100 Ayurveda enthusiasts from the Midwest region. Recognition of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic products as a holistic approach to health was the main focus of the discussion. The event was organized as part of the events to commemorate #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav
The program began with the chanting of Dhanvantri Stavan and the lighting of the lamp by the Consul General Somnath Ghosh along with Swami Ishatmananda, Vivekananda Vedanta Society, and Swami Sharnanada, Chinmaya Mission.
Consul General Somnath Ghosh, who arrived just a couple of days before, said in his opening remarks that the relevance and importance of Ayurveda, which is one of the most ancient and well documented system of medicine is equally relevant in modern times.
A distinguished panel of speakers from different parts of US Midwest included Vaidya Swati Mhaske, from Crystal Lake, IL; Vaidya Ashlesha Raut, President, Ayurvedic Union of Midwest from Bloomingdale, IL; Vaidya Asavari Manvikar, Founder & lead faculty at Minnesota Institute of Ayurveda; and Vaidya Pradeepa Rayasam from Ann Arbor, MI. The program was moderated by Vaidya Deepti Suri, Hinsdale in a very skillful manner.
The gathering was also addressed by guest speakers, Swami Ishatmananda, Swami Sharanananda, Dr. Colleen Sen, Culinary Historian, Dr. Kalyani Sundar, Dr. Trupti Gokarni, and Vaidya Ulka Nagarkar. Ayurvedia Union of Midwest, Art of Living (Chicago Chapter), and BAPS Swaminarayan Temple teams joined and supported the event.
