Indian origin 8-Year-Old Prodigy shatters records. In an extraordinary display of memory and perseverance, 8-year-old Pragyan Arya Ravulaparthi recently shattered records by reciting 3,501 digits of pi from memory.
This remarkable feat, accomplished on June 25, 2024, marks the highest number of pi digits ever recited by a child in Singapore. Pragyan, a student at United World College, drew inspiration from his older brother Siddharth Arya Ravulaparthi, who had previously set a record by memorizing 2,856 digits.
A Family of Achievers
Pragyan’s journey to this remarkable achievement began two years ago. At the time, he assisted his brother Siddharth Arya Ravulaparthi in checking the pi digits as Siddharth recited them from memory. Inspired by his brother’s dedication, Pragyan decided to take on the challenge himself. With support and encouragement from his parents, Ravi Ravulaparthi and Tejaswini, he embarked on a journey to master the digits of pi.
Siddharth, now 11, previously broke Singapore’s record for reciting the most pi digits, achieving 2,856 digits on November 1, 2022, at their home. He began memorizing pi digits at the age of 9 and dedicated over a year and a half to breaking the national record.

Pragyan’s achievement is notable not only for his young age but also for his methodical approach to memorization. He used various mnemonic techniques to memorize and recall the long sequence of numbers, demonstrating an extraordinary capacity for focus and dedication.
Memorizing pi digits is a popular challenge worldwide, requiring immense concentration and practice.
