Sameer Khan Mesmerizes Audiences in the English Play Bismillah at Los Angeles: The prestigious Curtis Theater came alive with emotions as it hosted Bismillah (In the Name of God), a deeply moving stage production written and directed by Nakisa Aschtiani. The play, staged on Saturday at 3 pm, explores themes of faith, identity, resilience, and tragedy within a Persian American family.

The highlight of the evening was the captivating performance by Sameer Khan, an actor of Indian origin. Khan stunned audiences by portraying two contrasting characters—Nima and Mohammad. His seamless transition between roles showcased not only his versatility but also his command over storytelling, leaving the audience spellbound.

This was Khan’s second staging of Bismillah. He first performed it in 2023 at the Zephyr Theater in Hollywood, playing only Nima. However, his dual role at Curtis Theater brought an added emotional intensity, cementing his reputation as a powerful English theater actor in America.

A Special Indian Independence Weekend

The Indian Independence weekend in the United States turned into a cultural celebration of South Asian talent. While comedian Zakir Khan brought laughter and wit to audiences in New York, Sameer Khan captivated Los Angeles with his moving performance in Bismillah. Together, their artistry created a coast-to-coast showcase of Indian excellence, making the weekend unforgettable for the Indian diaspora and art lovers alike.

From Indian Theater to Hollywood Success

Khan’s journey reflects both passion and determination. He began his acting career in Pune with English theater, later moving to Mumbai for Hindi productions. His successful transition to Hollywood marks him as one of the few South Asian actors to bridge Indian theater and the American stage with ease.

A Versatile Performer Beyond Theater

Beyond theater, Khan has built an impressive portfolio. His film career began with Curry Scent and Martial Artist. In 2025, his short film Cowboys and Hindus premiered at the Austin Film Festival, where it earned critical acclaim. Khan has also worked in television and commercials, further proving his versatility and adaptability as a performer.

Pride for the South Asian Diaspora

For the South Asian and Indian diaspora in the U.S., Sameer Khan’s achievements are a source of pride. His success underlines the importance of diverse representation in Hollywood and inspires aspiring actors from underrepresented communities to pursue their artistic dreams.

With a career spanning theater, film, and television, Khan continues to demonstrate that perseverance and talent can break barriers. His performance in Bismillah stands as a testament to the transformative power of art and the growing influence of South Asian voices in Hollywood.
