Nirmolak Heera Launches Punjabi Learning Toys to Help UK-Born Children Preserve Their Mother Tongue: A UK-based entrepreneur has launched a unique range of Punjabi learning toys designed to help second- and third-generation children reconnect with their linguistic and cultural roots.

Harsimrat Kaur, founder of the brand Nirmolak Heera, created the products after noticing a significant gap in the market for high-quality Punjabi language resources tailored to modern families.

While Montessori-style English educational toys are widely available, she found that similar learning tools in Punjabi were virtually nonexistent.
“Language is more than words — it’s connection, identity and belonging,” Harsimrat Kaur said.
“I wanted Punjabi resources that were good quality, modern and safe for busy families. These toys are about making Punjabi part of everyday play, not something children feel pressured to ‘learn’ later.”
Addressing a Growing Need in UK Punjabi Families
The new range of Punjabi learning toys is specifically designed for UK-born children from Punjabi-speaking households who may understand the language but struggle to speak, read or write it confidently.
The products introduce Punjabi through playful, everyday activities that families can incorporate naturally into home routines.
The core collection includes:
- A 3D puzzle board with movable pieces
- A two-part Punjabi jigsaw
- A writing movable truck chalk book to practise Punjabi letters
- Five original physical toys
- Digital downloads and online learning games
The toys are particularly aimed at families who wish to preserve their cultural heritage but lack accessible tools to teach Punjabi at home.
From Personal Experience to Purpose-Driven Brand
Kaur’s inspiration for launching Nirmolak Heera came from a deeply personal experience.
During a visit from her in-laws, she found herself translating between them and her friends. She realised she did not want her children to face the same language barrier with their grandparents.
Her brand name, Nirmolak Heera, translates to “Priceless Diamond.”
She believes that a child’s ability to speak their mother tongue is exactly that — priceless.
“When a child can speak Punjabi, they can speak to their grandparents, connect with their culture and discover their history. That connection is a priceless diamond.”
From Free Platform to Growing Education Brand
Although Kaur holds a master’s degree in mathematics, motherhood shifted her professional focus. After the birth of her first child, she discovered a deeper calling in teaching Punjabi.
Nirmolak Heera began as a free online platform sharing Sikh religious hymns. Over time, it expanded into a full Punjabi tuition service. The launch of the new toy range marks a significant milestone in the brand’s evolution into a broader Punjabi language-learning platform.
Today, Nirmolak Heera offers:
- Structured Punjabi tuition
- Educational toys
- Digital resources
- Online games
- Community-led collaborations
Supporting Small Businesses and Global Collaboration
In addition to developing her own products, Kaur has partnered with other small businesses to broaden the selection of Punjabi-themed educational tools.
These collaborations include:
- A Punjabi memory game created by a mother in Germany
- Punjabi-written T-shirts
- Touch-and-feel books by Parus, written by a mum and primary school teacher in Luton
By working with independent creators, Nirmolak Heera is building a supportive ecosystem around Punjabi language education.
Now Available on Amazon Across the UK
The Punjabi learning toys are now available on Amazon, making them accessible to families across the UK and internationally.
Kaur also continues to support adult learners and parents seeking ways to integrate Punjabi into daily family life.
As multilingualism becomes increasingly valued in Britain’s diverse society, initiatives like Nirmolak Heera reflect a growing desire among diaspora communities to preserve heritage languages in practical, modern ways.
