Abu Dhabi Awqaf Honours Indian Expat Shakil for Outstanding Contributions to Life Endowment Campaign: As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of endowment and strengthen community giving during the Year of Community, the Authority of Awqaf and Minors’ Funds Affairs in Abu Dhabi (Awqaf Abu Dhabi) has highlighted the inspiring journey of Shakil, an Indian expatriate living in Al Ain, whose consistent generosity has made a meaningful difference through the Life Endowment campaign.

Shakil, who has lived in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for nearly 21 years, proudly considers the UAE his second home. Despite earning a modest income, he made a heartfelt commitment to support patients with chronic illnesses by contributing 42 donations, made in his own name and on behalf of his family members. His actions demonstrate how everyday acts of kindness can collectively create lasting social impact.

An Indian expat’s commitment to giving back

As an Indian expatriate, Shakil believes in the values of compassion, service, and responsibility that are deeply rooted in Indian culture. These values, nurtured in the UAE’s inclusive environment, inspired him to support the Life Endowment campaign, which provides sustainable funding for medical treatment for vulnerable patients, including those suffering from chronic illnesses and elderly members of the community.

His generosity reflects the strong bond between the Indian community and the UAE, where expatriates from diverse backgrounds actively contribute to social development and community wellbeing.

National recognition for selfless generosity

Shakil’s dedication did not go unnoticed. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, honoured him alongside other contributors to the Life Endowment initiative at a ceremony held at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. The recognition celebrated individuals and organisations whose contributions are strengthening a sustainable national healthcare endowment model that supports those most in need.

Strengthening a culture of endowment

By sharing Shakil’s story, Awqaf Abu Dhabi highlights that the Life Endowment campaign is powered by contributions from individuals, institutions, and companies across the public and private sectors, regardless of the size of the donation. Each contribution expands the reach of the initiative, supports more patients, and strengthens a culture of endowment built on compassion, collective responsibility, and shared humanity.

Shakil’s experience reflects the core mission of the Life Endowment campaign—to provide long-term, sustainable healthcare support for patients with chronic illnesses who cannot afford the cost of treatment, while building a more resilient and caring community.

Awqaf Abu Dhabi continues to call upon all members of society, including the expatriate community, to support this noble initiative and carry forward the UAE’s enduring legacy of generosity by transforming individual acts of kindness into lasting human impact for generations to come.
