The Consulate General of India, Chicago Celebrated the 75th Republic Day of India on Friday, 26 January 2024.
The event started with Consul General Somnath Ghosh, unfurling the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem of India. The Consul General read out the Address of the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu and spoke on the India-US strategic partnership and the valuable contributions of the Indian diaspora.
A cultural programme was organised. This included Hindustani classical instrumental by Mr. Souryadeep Bhattacharya on Sarod accompanied by Tabla Player Mr. Arun Sabapathy; Odissi dance performance by Mr. Colin Mascarenhas and Ms. Neeti Sabarwal from Aikyam Odissi Dance Collective Chicago; and rendition of patriotic songs by Mr. Ishaan Ahmed and Ms. Nalini Parikh.
The programme was attended by State Senator Ram Villivalam, Cook County Treasurer Ms. Maria Pappas, and prominent members of the Indian diaspora.
