Deepti Sharma Becomes Highest Wicket-Taker in Women’s T20 Internationals as India Complete Sri Lanka Whitewash: Indian women’s cricket capped a historic year on a high as Deepti Sharma became the highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20 Internationals, surpassing Australia’s Megan Schutt. The landmark achievement came alongside a dominant team performance, with India defeating Sri Lanka by 15 runs in the fifth T20I to complete a 5–0 series whitewash in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.

Deepti Sharma Creates History in Women’s T20 Cricket

With her latest spell, Deepti Sharma moved past Megan Schutt to become the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20I history. Known for her control, variations, and calm under pressure, Deepti has been a consistent match-winner across conditions and continents.

The milestone reflects her longevity and sustained excellence, reinforcing her status as one of the most reliable bowlers in the women’s game and a key pillar of India’s T20 setup.

Harmanpreet Kaur Leads From the Front in Series Finale

India’s historic evening was set up by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who played a crucial knock under pressure. With India struggling at 77 for five, Harmanpreet produced a doughty 68 off 43 balls, her first fifty of the series, to steady the innings and propel the hosts to a competitive 175 for five.

Bowlers Seal Victory as Sri Lanka Fall Short

India’s bowlers delivered a spotless collective effort to close out the match. Sri Lanka responded with half-centuries from opener Hasini Perera (65) and Imesha Dulani (50), but the visitors failed to find momentum in the death overs, finishing at 160 for seven.

Deepti Sharma once again played a central role in maintaining pressure through the middle overs, highlighting why she now stands atop the Women’s T20I wicket charts.

A Defining Moment for Indian Women’s Cricket

The clean sweep against Sri Lanka capped an exceptional year for India, marked by consistent performances, improved ICC rankings, and record-breaking individual feats.

Deepti Sharma’s historic achievement, combined with Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership and a clinical team display, made the Thiruvananthapuram finale a defining moment in Women’s T20 International cricket.
