Diljit Dosanjh Earns Emmy Nomination for Amar Singh Chamkila: Indian superstar Diljit Dosanjh has received a prestigious International Emmy nomination for his powerful performance in Amar Singh Chamkila, a 2024 biographical drama directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film, which also stars Parineeti Chopra as Amarjot, captures the turbulent life of Punjab’s legendary musician Amar Singh Chamkila.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 2025 International Emmy® Awards on Thursday, spanning a record 26 countries across 16 categories. This year’s recognition cements India’s growing influence on the global entertainment stage.
Amar Singh Chamkila premiered in Mumbai on April 8, 2024, before its global release on Netflix on April 12. The film earned critical acclaim, with many calling it a remarkable return-to-form for director Imtiaz Ali. The soundtrack, composed by A. R. Rahman with lyrics by Irshad Kamil, played a vital role in reviving the vibrant yet tragic story of Chamkila, often remembered as the “Elvis of Punjab.”

Nominees will gather in New York from November 21–23 for the International Emmy® World Television Festival, featuring exclusive panels, presentations, and industry networking events. Winners will be revealed at the 53rd International Emmy® Awards Gala on November 24, 2025, in New York City.
