Empire State Building illuminated to kickstart ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy Tour

USA

In a dazzling display of cricketing fervor, West Indies legend Chris Gayle and USA’s rising star Ali Khan joined forces to launch the Trophy Tour for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The iconic Empire State Building in New York City served as the backdrop for the official ceremony, where Gayle and Khan had the honor of illuminating the skyscraper in the navy and pink colors of the event.

The launch event marked the beginning of a Global Trophy Tour that will span 15 countries, including all nine host venues, building anticipation for the historic ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 set to take place in the West Indies and the United States.

With an overwhelming demand for tickets, surpassing 3 million applications in the public ballot, organizers have responded by releasing additional tickets for 51 out of the 55 matches, including fixtures where allocations were previously exhausted. This surge in interest underscores the global excitement and anticipation surrounding the tournament.

Of significant note is the historic inclusion of the United States as a host country for an ICC World Cup event. The tournament will feature eight matches at a newly constructed, state-of-the-art modular stadium with a capacity of 34,000 in Nassau County, New York. This milestone highlights the growing popularity and significance of cricket in the USA.

Furthermore, existing venues like the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas and Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill have undergone renovations to prepare for the tournament, with each venue set to host four fixtures. These developments signify the commitment to expanding the reach of cricket and providing world-class facilities for players and fans alike.

Gayle and Khan’s symbolic act of lighting up the Empire State Building not only kicked off the Trophy Tour but also served as a beacon of excitement and anticipation for cricket enthusiasts around the world. As the countdown to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 begins, the stage is set for an unforgettable celebration of cricketing excellence and global unity.
