First-ever Indian feature film entirely filmed in Oman is set to grace theaters in the country this Friday. Titled “Raastha,” the Malayalam movie unfolds its narrative against the stunning backdrop of the Rub al Khali desert, telling the compelling story of a woman’s journey to the Gulf in search of her mother.
Directed by Aneesh Anwar, the film boasts a talented cast featuring Sarjano Khalid, Anagha Narayanan, Aaradhya Ann, Sudheesh, Irshad Ali, T G Ravi, and several Omani actors, capturing a blend of cultural richness on the big screen.
Produced by Linu Sreenivas under the banner of ALU Entertainments, the movie crew shared their rewarding experience of shooting in Oman during a press conference held at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).
OCCI chairman Fisal Abdullah al Rawas expressed his delight at witnessing “Raastha,” highlighting the significance of an Indian film entirely based in Oman. He emphasized that movies serve as a powerful medium to showcase the beauty of a country, and “Raastha” is expected to elevate Oman to a higher platform.
Abdul Latheef Uppala, owner of ALU Entertainments and a Board Member of OCCI, shared that the compelling story of the movie inspired him to provide financial support. As the managing director of Badr al Samaa Group of Hospitals, he emphasized his responsibility to contribute to Oman’s entertainment and tourism industry. Uppala noted that “Raastha” is based on factual elements, portraying the true nature and culture of Oman, marking a significant step toward promoting the nation’s film industry.
The event also saw the presence of Humaid al Amri, chairman of the Oman Film Society, and renowned singer Haitham al Rafi, further underscoring the collaborative celebration of this cinematic milestone.
