Hope for Families: Trump’s IVF Plan Promises Affordable Fertility Care for Every American: President Donald J. Trump announced new actions to dramatically lower the cost of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and expand access to high-quality fertility treatments nationwide. The announcement marks the third agreement with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer aimed at reducing drug prices under the Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) pricing model — a policy ensuring Americans pay no more than patients in other developed countries.

This latest deal, made with EMD Serono, one of the world’s leading fertility medication manufacturers, promises massive cost savings for women seeking fertility treatment.
Historic Deal with EMD Serono to Cut Fertility Drug Costs
President Trump revealed that GONAL-F, a commonly used fertility drug, will now be available on TrumpRx.gov at unprecedented discounts.
- Women purchasing directly from TrumpRx.gov will save up to 796% off the deal price.
- Low- and middle-income women — those earning below 550% of the Federal poverty level — will receive additional discounts totaling 2,320% off the deal price.
According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, these savings could reduce fertility drug costs by as much as $2,200 per treatment cycle, a major relief for patients who typically spend over $5,000 on these medications.
“This deal will make IVF more affordable and attainable for hardworking American families,” said President Trump. “We’re bringing fairness and hope to couples who dream of having children.”
Beyond fertility treatments, EMD Serono also committed to:
- Offering deep discounts on other medicines when sold directly to patients.
- Guaranteeing MFN pricing on all new innovative drugs.
- Repatriating revenue to the U.S. and expanding manufacturing of IVF drugs within the country — a first in the company’s history.
Cutting Red Tape and Fast-Tracking Lower-Cost Drugs
To further reduce costs, the FDA will prioritize approval of a lower-cost fertility drug as part of its National Priority Review Voucher Program.
This initiative shortens drug approval timelines from 10–12 months to just 1–2 months, ensuring faster market access and increased competition — both of which are expected to drive prices even lower.
“This is about cutting bureaucracy and putting families first,” President Trump emphasized. “Faster approvals mean faster access to life-changing treatments.”

Introducing New Employer Fertility Benefit Options
In another first, the Trump Administration announced a New Benefit Option that allows employers to offer standalone fertility benefit packages to employees — similar to dental, vision, or life insurance coverage.
Under this reform, the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Treasury will allow employers to provide coverage for IVF and other infertility treatments. The move could revolutionize workplace benefits by giving employees more options to pursue fertility care.
According to fertility benefit providers, employees with fertility coverage have 25% higher live birth rates than those without such support. This expansion will particularly help small and medium-sized businesses offer benefits that were previously limited to larger corporations.
Currently, only:
- 42% of employers offer fertility services,
- 32% cover IVF or fertility medications, and
- 19% cover non-IVF treatments.
The new benefit structure aims to close this gap and make IVF coverage more common across American workplaces.
Delivering on Promises for American Families
President Trump reaffirmed his long-standing support for expanding family growth and making parenthood more accessible.
“Because we want more babies — to put it very nicely,” President Trump said. “IVF treatments are expensive and out of reach for many families. From the beginning, I’ve been in favor of helping more Americans have the beautiful families they dream of.”
Currently, one in eight American couples struggles with infertility, and the cost of IVF — ranging from $12,000 to $25,000 per cycle — remains a major barrier. These new policies aim to bring hope to millions by reducing financial obstacles and improving access to care.
President Trump’s broader Working Families Tax Cuts also introduced Trump Accounts, which provide every newborn with a $1,000 investment to build their financial future. In addition, the expanded Child Tax Credit continues to support more than 40 million families.
A Bold Vision for Family Growth in America
As fertility rates in the U.S. hit historic lows, President Trump’s new fertility care initiative represents a bold step toward rebuilding family stability and supporting parents. Through lower drug costs, streamlined FDA approvals, and expanded insurance coverage, the administration’s plan seeks to make IVF accessible, affordable, and attainable for all.
