A Legacy of Cultural Excellence
The ICC was established following a meeting of prominent Indian community members at the Embassy of India, Qatar, on September 8, 1991. It was formally inaugurated on October 26, 1992, with its constitution drafted and signed by the Ad hoc Committee members on April 20, 1993. The first elections were held on May 21, 1993, with 233 members participating. Over time, the number of founder members grew to 300.

The ICC was initially located in Bin Umran and was officially inaugurated by the then Ambassador of India, K.P. Fabian, on August 31, 1993. In 2000, the ICC moved to a new premises on D Ring Road, which provided more space and enabled the expansion of its activities. A decade later, the ICC relocated to its current premises in the Abu Hamour area, offering additional facilities and services while ensuring easy access for members across Doha.

A Vision for the Future

The new Management Committee is determined to build on the ICC’s rich legacy by organizing innovative programs that celebrate Indian culture and strengthen community ties. From cultural festivals and educational workshops to social initiatives, the ICC aims to create a vibrant platform for the Indian diaspora in Qatar.

A. P. Manikantan, President of the ICC, expressed his enthusiasm for the new term, stating:
“We are honored to take on this responsibility and look forward to working with the community to promote Indian culture and heritage. Our goal is to create meaningful initiatives that bring people together and strengthen the bond between India and Qatar.”

The ICC’s efforts have consistently contributed to enhancing the cultural landscape of Qatar, making it a hub for Indian traditions and values. As the new committee begins its term, the Indian community in Qatar can look forward to an exciting array of events and activities that celebrate their shared heritage.
