Jana Nayagan Creates Global Box Office Frenzy, Crosses ₹50 Crore in Worldwide, Shatters Records in Malaysia: Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited action thriller Jana Nayagan is rewriting box office history even before hitting cinema screens. With three days still to go for its grand theatrical release, the film has already crossed the ₹50 crore mark in worldwide pre-sales, positioning itself as one of the biggest Tamil cinema openings in recent years.

According to Sacnik, the advance booking response highlights Vijay’s unparalleled global fan base and the massive anticipation surrounding the film. Trade analysts believe the pre-release momentum itself is indicative of a record-breaking opening weekend.
Historic Run in Malaysia
The film’s performance in Malaysia has been nothing short of extraordinary. Within just one hour and 30 minutes of bookings opening, Jana Nayagan reportedly outpaced the advance sales trajectory of Rajinikanth’s Coolie. After the first 24 hours, the film sold over 90,000 tickets, grossing RM 2.1 million plus.
This achievement already places Jana Nayagan as the third-highest single-day advance sale of all time in Malaysia. It is now on the verge of overtaking Coolie (95,000 tickets) to claim the second spot, while Leo continues to hold the top record with 108,000 tickets. Given the current pace, industry trackers expect Jana Nayagan to challenge the all-time record even before its premiere.
Adding to the momentum, the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia has officially granted the movie a ‘16’ certificate, making it suitable for viewers aged 16 and above.
Strong Advance Booking in India
In India, advance bookings have taken off impressively, especially across the southern states. Kerala has emerged as a standout market, with the film already collecting ₹2.36 crore in pre-sales, reaffirming Vijay’s strong fan following in the state.
According to early tracking data, the All-India first-day advance booking gross (excluding blocked seats) stands at ₹5.86 crore, with 202,784 tickets sold across 2,071 shows. When blocked seats are included, the figure rises sharply to ₹8.73 crore. The average ticket price (ATP) is currently trending at ₹217, signaling robust demand across multiplexes and single screens alike.
Minor Legal Hurdle, No Delay Expected
Despite the box office euphoria, Jana Nayagan is facing a minor legal development. The Madras High Court has taken up a matter related to the film’s censor certificate. The hearing was adjourned today and is scheduled to continue tomorrow. However, trade experts and distributors do not anticipate any delay to the film’s planned release, and fans remain optimistic.
About the Film
Jana Nayagan is a high-octane political action drama that sees Vijay in the role of an upright and fearless police inspector. The story follows his battle against a dangerous nexus involving an extremist organization and a powerful politician, a conspiracy that threatens the very foundations of Indian democracy. Packed with action, drama, and strong political undertones, the film promises to deliver a compelling theatrical experience.
