Nagaland Madrigal Singers Shine at World Choir Games in Auckland. The World Choir Games recently came to a close in Auckland, with the prestigious Awards Ceremony taking place at Spark Arena on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Among the global participants, the Nagaland Madrigal Singers stood out as India’s sole representative, achieving extraordinary success in the competition.

Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio felicitated the Nagaland Madrigal Singers during a dinner hosted in their honour at Nagaland House, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi on 23rd July2024. The Nagaland Madrigal Singers led by Hito Kiho won two gold medals at the recentlyheld 13th World Choir Games at Auckland, New Zealand from 19th -20th July, 2024.

The dinner was hosted by the Chief Minister and his wife Kaisa Rio and was also attended by DeputyChief Minister Y Patton, Minister Tourism and Higher Education Temjen Imna Along,Advisor Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor School Education Dr. KekhrielhoulieYhome, Advisor Industries & Commerce, Hekhani Jakhalu Kense, Chairman IDAN AbuMetha and Chairman TaFMA Theja Meru.

Competing against choirs from around the world, the Nagaland Madrigal Singers demonstrated exceptional talent and skill, securing Gold Medals in two categories. In Category C7: Mixed Chamber Choirs, they earned a Gold Medal with an impressive score of 86.75. Additionally, in Category C19: Contemporary Music – Mixed Voices, the choir achieved another Gold Medal with a score of 82.50.

The World Choir Games brought together choirs from across the globe, making the Nagaland Madrigal Singers’ accomplishments particularly notable. Their success underscores the global recognition of Indian choral music and highlights the exceptional quality of Indian choirs on the international stage.

This remarkable achievement not only brings immense pride to India but also emphasizes the high standards and talent present in Indian choral music. The Nagaland Madrigal Singers have set a new benchmark for Indian choirs, showcasing their excellence on a world stage.
