NRNA Qatar Elects New Executive Committee at 11th Convention in Doha: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordination Council Qatar successfully hosted its 11th Convention in Doha, electing a new executive committee for the 2025–2027 term.


Leadership Renewal and Community Engagement
Held with grandeur and wide participation, the convention reaffirmed the NRNA’s role as a key platform for the Nepali diaspora in Qatar. The event concluded with the unopposed election of Padam Giri as President, leading a 36-member executive team. Election Commissioner Kamalni Guragain administered the oath of office and confidentiality to the newly elected members.
Newly Elected Leadership Team
President Padam Giri will lead the council alongside:
- First Vice President: Roshan Aryal
- Second Vice President: Subash Thapa
- Third Vice President: Lila Rai
- Women Vice President: Ram Kumari Tamang
- Youth Vice President: Tank Bahadur BK
- General Secretary: Shiva Bhujel
- Treasurer: Prem Kumar Basnet
- Assistant Treasurer: Mohammad Azad Mansur
- Secretaries: Khemraj Subedi, Isilal Pandit, Shankarman Rai
- Women Coordinator: Apsana Miya
- Youth Coordinator: Chham Bahadur Chand

The executive committee further includes 19 additional members representing diverse sectors of the Nepali community.

Distinguished Guests and Institutional Support
The event welcomed representatives from Qatar’s Ministry of Labor, including Salha Al Khalaf, officials from the Ministry of Interior, expatriate community leaders, NRNA ICC advisors, and representatives of Nepali organizations in Qatar.
Guest speaker Salha Al Khalaf extended best wishes to the new team and confirmed an upcoming meeting to explore collaboration. Chief Guest Dr. Badri KC, President of the NRNA International Coordination Council (ICC), reaffirmed that this executive team is the officially recognized body of NRNA Qatar under the Government of Nepal.

NRNA’s Role and Global Presence
The Non-Resident Nepali Association, officially registered with Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serves as a global umbrella body for Nepalis abroad. With a presence in 92 countries, the Qatar NCC is the second-largest globally. Guided by the motto “For Nepalis, By Nepalis”, NRNA Qatar actively engages in social, cultural, and philanthropic initiatives, working closely with local government agencies, charitable institutions, and the Nepali Embassy in Qatar.
Leadership Profile of Padam Giri
Newly elected President Padam Giri is a seasoned leader, widely respected for his experience and service. Having served two successful terms as General Secretary, he played a key role during FIFA 2022 by coordinating with Qatar’s Supreme Council and effectively supporting Nepali workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. His institutional knowledge and collaborative leadership make him a prominent figure in the Nepali social landscape of Qatar.
Guests praised the organization’s contributions to social welfare and expressed confidence in the newly elected leadership. The convention highlighted the NRNA’s commitment to strengthening ties among Nepalis abroad while fostering partnerships with Qatar’s institutions and international communities.
