PM Trudeau Extends Warm Welcome to Mahant Swami Maharaj on BAPS’ 50th Anniversary in Canada

Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, warmly receives His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj on the momentous occasion of the 50th anniversary of BAPS Community Service in Canada. The honorable Prime Minister paid a gracious visit to the magnificent BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Toronto to extend his welcome to His Holiness.

Upon arrival at the entrance of the Mandir, Prime Minister Trudeau was met with a heartfelt reception by Swami Viratswarupdas, Swami Gunsagardas, and the board of directors of BAPS. Inside the Mandir, Mahant Swami Maharaj honored the Prime Minister with a garland, symbolizing the gesture of welcome. Mahant Swami Maharaj greeted Prime Minister Trudeau with folded hands and ceremoniously tied a sacred string, known as ‘nada chhadi’, around the Prime Minister’s wrist, signifying their shared values of friendship and unity.

During their meeting, Mahant Swami Maharaj presented a copy of the revered Satsang Diksha scripture, inscribed with personal blessings, as a heartfelt gift for the Prime Minister. Additionally, Mahant Swami Maharaj gifted Prime Minister Trudeau a traditional manuscript of the Satsang Diksha scripture, which he had authored several years ago. The enlightening book titled “In Love, At Ease,” encapsulating the life and teachings of his guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj, was also presented to the Prime Minister.

Immersed in the sacred atmosphere, Prime Minister Trudeau participated in the Abhishek ritual of Shri Nilkanth Varni, offering prayers for the prosperity and well-being of all Canadians.

Concluding his visit, the Prime Minister proceeded to the majestic Haveli building, where he had the pleasure of meeting and capturing a group photo with senior volunteers representing BAPS centers across Canada. Inside the assembly hall, amidst music and applause, Prime Minister Trudeau extended warm greetings to the esteemed BAPS Swamis, including Gnanpriyadas Swami, Bhadreshdas Swami, Rushirajdas Swami, and Shrutiprakashdas Swami.

Addressing the gathering of devoted followers and well-wishers, Prime Minister Trudeau expressed his gratitude, acknowledging the significance of the BAPS Mandir community. He commended their 50 years of extraordinary service, emphasizing their devotion to peace, charity, and prosperity. The Prime Minister recognized the profound impact of the community, not only on the Hindu community but also on all Canadians, enriching their lives through cultural richness, history, stories, and celebrations.

Prime Minister Trudeau reiterated the importance of unity, as emphasized by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, highlighting the strength of unity across differences in building a better future for everyone. He thanked the BAPS community for their commitment to Canada and the values that drive progress.

As he departed, the Prime Minister received greetings from other community leaders and BAPS volunteers, further acknowledging their contributions and dedication.
