Victorian Multicultural Festival Returns to Grazeland with a Vibrant Celebration of Culture, Cuisine and Community: Melbourne’s west came alive this past weekend as the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC), in partnership with Grazeland and the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, brought the 2026 Victorian Multicultural Festival back to the city’s iconic food hub.

Marking the grand finale of Cultural Diversity Week 2026, the three-day festival, held from March 27 to 29, transformed Grazeland into a vibrant global village. The venue buzzed with energy as thousands gathered to experience a rich tapestry of international cultures through food, music and performance.

Visitors were treated to a dynamic showcase of global traditions. Highlights included traditional Vietnamese lion dancing, powerful Polynesian drumming, and lively Irish dance performances by emerging talents. A standout moment of the festival was a captivating performance by renowned Japanese shamisen virtuoso Noriko Tadano, whose artistry enthralled audiences.

Speaking on the occasion, VMC Chairperson Vivienne Nguyen said, “As part of Cultural Diversity Week, the VMC Victorian Multicultural Festival – in partnership with Grazeland – highlights the dynamic cultures that shape Victoria’s identity. The festival creates space for communities to be seen, heard and celebrated, while encouraging intercultural exchange. Events like this remind us that when cultures connect, communities thrive.”

The multicultural program continued with African drum and dance ensembles, Latin and European live bands, Turkish belly dancing, and infectious Cuban rhythms. World-class DJs kept the atmosphere electric, while roving Brazilian performers added bursts of colour and movement, creating an immersive cultural experience throughout the weekend.

Food lovers were equally spoiled for choice. As one of Melbourne’s largest food precincts, Grazeland offered an expansive array of culinary delights. From smoky street-style barbecue and aromatic curries to European classics, Latin American specialties and decadent desserts, the festival celebrated global cuisine in all its diversity.

Live performances began on Friday evening and continued through to Sunday night, delivering a non-stop celebration of music, dance and community spirit. The festival once again reinforced Victoria’s reputation as one of the world’s most successful multicultural societies.

The 2026 Victorian Multicultural Festival not only showcased the richness of global traditions but also underscored the unity and shared spirit that define modern Victoria.
