Apni Dhun Mein Rahta Hoon: ICS Hosts a Historic Ghazal Evening in Kuwait: The Indian Cultural Society (ICS) delivered an unforgettable cultural experience with its grand Ghazal concert, “Apni Dhun Mein Rahta Hoon,” held before a packed auditorium in Kuwait. The evening paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Jagjit Singh and, moreover, celebrated the timeless artistry of Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan, whose presence transformed the event into a historic musical milestone.

The program opened with a soulful prayer song, immediately engaging the audience. Soon after, ICS expressed deep gratitude to the Royal Family and the authorities of Kuwait for their continuous support in promoting cultural harmony. The evening then transitioned into captivating solo performances by Kuwait’s own artists, including Nand Kumar and Kaisar Ali Khan, whose remarkable presentations drew enthusiastic applause.


Adding charm and vibrancy, the Dancing Divas took the stage with two dynamic performances. Their graceful yet energetic routines highlighted the talent and passion of Kuwait’s young performers.
Midway through the event, ICS unveiled its Commemorative Souvenir. Distinguished guests, valued sponsors, and respected dignitaries graced the moment. The impressive list included Mr. Shahbaaz Alam (Singer & Composer), Mr. Javed Aslam (Sitarist), Mr. Irfan Erooth (Qawwali Singer), Mr. S. Bukhari (Business Tycoon, Oman), Govind Rasam (VP – Square Yard), Mohamed Ali VP (Chairman – Medx Medical Care), Ashok Kalra (MD – Mughal Mahal Group), Ayyoob Kachery (Director – Grand Hypermarket), and many other well-known business and community leaders. Representatives from leading companies such as Caesars Foods, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Al Babtain Auto, BEC Exchange, Gulf Consult, and Hotel Costa Del Sol also attended.


Throughout the evening, speakers emphasized the importance of cultural exchange. They praised ICS for its unwavering efforts in promoting art, literature, and social welfare, while consistently lending support to noble community causes. ICS honored all performers with mementos, further showcasing its commitment to recognizing artistic excellence.
The highlight of the night emerged when Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan took center stage. His mellifluous voice and intricate tans mesmerized the audience. He performed evergreen classics such as “Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa,” “Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat,” “Awaargi,” “Chupke Chupke Raat Din,” and the title piece “Apni Dhun Mein Rehta Hoon.” His son Aamir Ali Khan and grandson Nazeer Ali Khan joined him, adding emotional depth to the performance and reaffirming their family’s unmatched musical legacy.


As the evening neared its finale, the audience rose in a heartfelt standing ovation. ICS President Ashfaque A. Khan then delivered a sincere vote of thanks, acknowledging executives, volunteers, supporters, media partners, and technical teams for ensuring flawless hospitality and smooth execution.


The night concluded with a spellbinding collective performance led by Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan. The iconic Ghazal,
“Hum Tere Shehar Mein Aaye Hain, Musafir Ki Tarah…”
echoed through the hall, leaving the audience with cherished memories and renewed admiration for the grandeur of Ghazal.
