Desi Tech Founders Join the Billionaire Club After Historic $60 Billion AI Deal: In a landmark moment for South Asian representation in global technology, two young entrepreneurs with roots in India and Pakistan are set to see their fortunes soar following Elon Musk-led SpaceX’s acquisition of AI coding startup Cursor’s parent company, Anysphere, in a massive $60 billion all-stock deal.

Among the biggest beneficiaries of the acquisition are Indian-origin entrepreneur Aman Sanger and Pakistani-origin entrepreneur Sualeh Asif, both in their mid-twenties and members of the founding team behind the AI-powered coding platform Cursor. Reports indicate that the deal could add approximately $2.7 billion each to the founders’ wealth, firmly placing them among the world’s youngest technology billionaires.

A South Asian Success Story

Cursor has emerged as one of the fastest-growing artificial intelligence startups globally, helping software developers write, edit, and optimize code using AI. Founded in 2022 by four classmates from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the company quickly became a favorite among developers and enterprises worldwide.

Aman Sanger, who is of Indian origin, began coding as a teenager and went on to co-found Cursor while studying at MIT. His journey has become an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs from the Indian diaspora.

Sualeh Asif, who grew up in Karachi, Pakistan, attended Nixor College before moving to the United States for higher education. A former participant in the International Mathematical Olympiad, Asif has been widely celebrated in Pakistan as a role model for young innovators.

SpaceX Bets Big on AI

The acquisition marks one of the largest venture-backed startup exits in history. SpaceX said the deal will strengthen its position in the rapidly growing AI coding market and enhance the capabilities of its AI division, xAI. The transaction is expected to close later in 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

Industry analysts view the acquisition as another sign of the intensifying race among technology giants to dominate artificial intelligence, particularly tools that can automate software development. Cursor has reportedly achieved billions of dollars in annualized revenue and is used by thousands of enterprises worldwide.

A Moment of Pride for South Asia

The rise of Aman Sanger and Sualeh Asif demonstrates how talent from South Asian backgrounds continues to shape the future of global technology. Their success story highlights the growing influence of Indian-origin and Pakistani-origin innovators in Silicon Valley and the broader AI ecosystem.

As the AI revolution accelerates, the achievements of these two young founders serve as a powerful reminder that innovation knows no borders. From New York and Karachi to MIT and Silicon Valley, their journey reflects the aspirations of millions of young people across South Asia seeking to make a global impact through technology.
