Hong Kong Tourism Board Launches “Hong Kong Good Take” Guide Featuring 100+ Movie Filming Locations: The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched “Hong Kong Good Take,” a new movie tourism initiative featuring more than 100 filming locations from 50 selected films, inviting visitors to explore the city through its celebrated cinematic heritage.

Known as the “Hollywood of the East,” Hong Kong has served as the backdrop for international blockbusters, classic local films and popular Asian movies. The new guide combines film locations with cultural attractions, neighbourhood experiences and distinctive dining to encourage visitors to discover the city beyond traditional sightseeing.

The guide features iconic locations including Star Ferry Pier, Temple Street, the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade, Yim Tin Tsai, The Peak and the Central–Mid-Levels Escalator.

Explore Hong Kong Through Cinema

The initiative offers themed itineraries across neighbourhoods such as Old Town Central, Sham Shui Po and Yau Ma Tei, allowing visitors to retrace scenes from well-known productions while experiencing local culture and community life.

Featured films include Cold War, C’est la vie, mon chéri, The Killer and The Dark Knight. The campaign also celebrates Hong Kong cinema legends Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui through dedicated features highlighting their cinematic legacies.

The HKTB plans to introduce movie-themed guided experiences in collaboration with tourism industry partners. These experiences will combine filming locations, cultural exploration and local cuisine to create immersive travel opportunities.

Promoting Film Tourism and Hong Kong’s Cultural Heritage

HKTB Chairman Dr Peter Lam said the initiative combines film and television culture with tourism promotion, encouraging visitors to experience Hong Kong’s distinctive East-meets-West identity and discover attractions from new perspectives.

Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law highlighted the importance of transforming the city’s rich film heritage into engaging tourism experiences, building on attractions such as Kowloon Walled City: A Cinematic Journey and Yau Ma Tei Police Station: A Cinematic Journey.

The campaign will also feature stories about Hong Kong’s film industry, culinary traditions portrayed in cinema and the city’s role as a filming destination for international productions.

Visitors can explore the guide and plan their cinematic journeys through the official Discover Hong Kong website:

With “Hong Kong Good Take,” the tourism board aims to turn the city’s cinematic appeal into a compelling travel experience, connecting movie memories with real-world destinations and supporting Hong Kong’s broader efforts to promote cultural tourism.
