Ethiopia celebrates Sinhala and Tamil New Year 2023

The Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and to the African Union Commission (AUC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in collaboration with the Sri Lankan citizens living and employed in Ethiopia organized a Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival 2023 in Ethiopia on 15 April 2023 at the Addis Ababa Golf Club in Ethiopia.

The New Year festival was attended by a large number of Sri Lankan citizens in Ethiopia along with the diplomatic community.

During the New Year festival the participants took part in various entertaining games throughout the day while enjoying traditional Sri Lankan food and sweetmeats.

This festival was supported in many ways by various business entities in Ethiopia along with several individuals who were keen to make this a successful festival.

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival held in Ethiopia transcended all barriers of ethnicity, religion, race or political beliefs and it portrayed a true Sri Lankan identity uniting all Sri Lankans living and working in Ethiopia.
