Bollywood: 2023, The Year of the Deols

Date:

India

The year 2023 has unequivocally been dubbed as the year of the Deols, as Bollywood witnessed the triumphant comebacks of Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol, each making a solid mark in their respective careers. The resurgence began with Dharmendra’s daring portrayal of a controversial character in Karan Johar’s “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani.”

The film emerged as a massive hit at the box office, setting the stage for the Deols’ triumphant return. However, the most notable comeback was that of Sunny Deol. His film, “Gadar 2,” initially faced skepticism during its release, with few takers.

Yet, as the movie garnered strong word-of-mouth publicity, the collections soared. “Gadar 2” crossed the 500-crore mark at the box office, solidifying its status as one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema.

Last but certainly not least, Bobby Deol, who had been relatively low-profile, primarily focusing on OTT projects, took center stage with a substantial role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Animal.” The film shattered records, catapulting Bobby Deol into the limelight as a sensational figure in the industry.

All three Deols, once viewed with skepticism and deemed out of the Bollywood spotlight, have orchestrated remarkable comebacks, defying expectations. The trio has not just reentered the industry but has done so with resounding success, proving that they are back in the game with a force to be reckoned with.
