Celebrated director Karan Johar was recently bestowed with a distinguished honor by the British Parliament, recognizing his significant contributions to the “global entertainment industry.” This recognition coincided with Johar’s completion of 25 successful years as a filmmaker in 2023. Taking to his official Instagram account on Tuesday, Johar shared the news along with expressing his gratitude. On the same day, his longtime friend and superstar Shah Rukh Khan unveiled the teaser of their upcoming directorial collaboration, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani.”
The citation was presented to Karan Johar by Baroness Sandy Verma, an esteemed member of the Indian-origin House of Lords. Johar expressed his appreciation for the recognition in his social media post, highlighting the significance of this honor.
Today has been an incredibly special day for me! I feel truly fortunate and deeply grateful as I was bestowed with an honor at the prestigious British House of Parliament in London. The esteemed Baroness Verma of Leicester presented me with this recognition, marking my remarkable journey of 25 years as a filmmaker in the industry. Adding to the joy, I also had the privilege of launching the teaser for my upcoming project #RockyAurRaniKiiPremKahaani! It’s a day where I realize that dreams do come true.
In 1998, I embarked on my directorial journey with the film “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” and since then, it has been an incredible ride. I am humbled to have become one of the most influential figures in the Indian film industry, with directorial credits including “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna,” and “My Name Is Khan.” As a producer, I have been associated with remarkable films like “Kal Ho Naa Ho,” “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,” “Kapoor & Sons,” and “Raazi.” Additionally, I have had the pleasure of hosting my celebrity chat show, “Koffee With Karan,” as a presenter.
Today’s honor is a testament to the passion, dedication, and hard work that I have put into my craft over the years.
