British Asian Mariam Mahmood Joins Wrexham AFC Women in Exciting New Signings: Wrexham AFC Women have confirmed the signing of Mariam Mahmood, alongside Josie Smith and Hannah Snape, on one-year contracts that run until the end of the 2025/26 season. The trio adds depth and talent to a squad already strengthened by the arrivals of Katie Barker and Jodie Bartle.
Rising Talent on the Global Stage
Mahmood, 21, brings international flair to Wrexham. She rose through the ranks at West Brom, where she made 80 first-team appearances under current Head Coach Jenny Sugarman. Her standout performance came in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers, where she scored twice to secure Pakistan’s 2-1 win against Kyrgyzstan.

Speaking about her move, Mahmood said: “I’m delighted to be signing. It’s such a big Club, with a good fan base and a lot of potential. I’m really excited to be joining.”
Local Connections Strengthen the Squad
Smith, 23, a versatile defender and midfielder, grew up in North Wales and began her career at Everton’s academy. With Cymru youth caps at U17 and U19 levels, she later won the FAWNL Division One Midlands title with Wolves.
On joining Wrexham, Smith shared: “Ever since I’ve stepped foot here, it feels more like home. My family are from here and with Jenny coming in, it just felt right.”

Youth and Energy for the Midfield
Snape, 22, previously played for Loughborough Lightning and Solihull Moors. She also represented England Schools before making her senior debut at just 16 with Chester.
On her signing, Snape said: “It’s an amazing opportunity to be here, and I’m really excited to get going for the season.”
Building Momentum Ahead of the Season
Wrexham’s recruitment drive also includes teenagers Neve Adams and Evie Holt, further strengthening the squad. Head Coach Jenny Sugarman expressed her enthusiasm:
“Maz, Josie and Hannah have all settled in excellently. Having worked with Maz before, I know her creativity can unlock defences. Josie’s versatility and technical quality stand out, and Hannah’s energy and set-piece deliveries will add a new dimension to our play.”

Fans Ready to Back the Red Dragons
As Wrexham prepare to face Briton Ferry Llansawel in their season opener, Sugarman highlighted the importance of supporters:
“Our fans will play a key role this season. We want to turn the Rock into a fortress, and we hope everyone can get behind the team.”
With new signings, rising stars, and passionate supporters, Wrexham AFC Women are set for an ambitious 2025/26 campaign.
