Shweta Sehrawat’s India A Women claimed victory on Wednesday, emerging as the champions of the inaugural ACC Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023. They delivered a resounding performance, defeating the Bangladesh A side in a tightly contested match with low scores. The Indian team showcased their dominance, outclassing Bangladesh by 31 runs while defending a total of 127 at the Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok.
Kanika Ahuja and Shreyanka Patil were the stars of the rain-affected showdown clash. Batting first, India managed to accumulate 127 runs in their allocated 20 overs. Ahuja provided a late surge, remaining unbeaten with a score of 30 off 23 balls, guiding India past the 120-run mark. In their defense, Shreyanka and Ahuja from RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) displayed exceptional performances, claiming four and two wickets respectively, leading to the collapse of the opposition at 96.
Prior to this match, the Indian team secured their place in the final following a rain-affected semifinal clash against Sri Lanka Women A. The reserve day also fell victim to inclement weather in Hong Kong, rendering it impossible to continue the match. On the other hand, Bangladesh’s scheduled semifinal against Pakistan Women A was also washed out, and the result was determined on a rain-interrupted reserve day.
