Starting January 24, cinephiles in Singapore can immerse themselves in the magic of Indian cinema at the Indian Film Festival 2025 (IFF 2025). Featuring 18 iconic and contemporary films, including legendary titles like Sholay and Pyaasa, this festival celebrates both cinema and 60 years of India-Singapore diplomatic relations.

Jointly organized by the High Commission of India in Singapore and the Singapore Film Society, the event runs from January 24 to March 2 at Golden Village Cinema, Suntec City. With screenings held every weekend, the festival will showcase films in seven Indian languages, all subtitled in English for accessibility.

High Commissioner Dr. Shilpak Ambule emphasized the significance of this cultural exchange. “Indian cinema is not just entertainment; it reflects our values, traditions, and history. This festival allows Singaporeans to experience the richness of Indian storytelling,” he said. Dr. Ambule also expressed gratitude to the Singaporean government and other partners for supporting the initiative, marking it as the first of many events celebrating this diplomatic milestone.

Kenneth Tan, Chairman of the Singapore Film Society, lauded India’s cinematic legacy. “India produces the most films globally, spanning a kaleidoscope of genres, from family dramas to grand epics. This collaboration perfectly celebrates the enduring partnership between our two nations,” he noted.

The festival’s lineup spans classics and modern hits, from legendary directors like Satyajit Ray and Guru Dutt to contemporary icons like SS Rajamouli. Movies like Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, RRR, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and Sonar Kella promise to captivate audiences.
