NASA to Train Indian Astronauts, Launch Nisar Satellite: US Envoy Reveals. NASA, the United States’ space agency, is set to provide cutting-edge training to Indian astronauts. And, also launch the Nisar satellite in partnership with India’s space organization, ISRO. The announcement was made by Eric Garcetti, the US Ambassador to India, during the “US-India Commercial Space Conference: Unlocking Opportunities for US & Indian Space Startups” held in Bangalore.

Training Indian Astronauts for Joint Space Mission

Garcetti revealed that NASA will soon commence advanced training programs for Indian astronauts. It is aimed at preparing them for joint missions to the International Space Station (ISS). This collaborative effort reflects the shared commitment of both nations to space exploration and scientific advancement. The training initiative is expected to commence this year or shortly thereafter. It marks a significant milestone in US-India space cooperation.

Launch of Nisar Satellite to Monitor Earth’s Resources

Highlighting another key development, Garcetti announced plans for the launch of the Nisar satellite from ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Space Center. The satellite, equipped with advanced technology, will play a crucial role in monitoring various resources on Earth, including ecosystems, natural hazards, sea level rise, and the cryosphere.
