Nepali community–based Greenwich Volleyball Pariwar Elects New Executive Board in London

Nepali community–based Greenwich Volleyball Pariwar, established by volleyball enthusiasts in South East London, has elected a new executive committee, with Umesh Chand Thakuri assuming responsibility as the President. Thakuri previously served as the club’s General Secretary and brings with him years of organisational experience and close involvement with the players.

According to the club, Anil Gurung and Sangita Magar have been elected as Vice Presidents, while Amar Gurung takes charge as General Secretary. Chandra Pun has been appointed Secretary, Rashmi Giri as Joint Secretary, Vijay Thapa as Treasurer, and Min Gurung as Joint Treasurer.

The newly elected executive members include Rekha Ghaley, Chanda Thapa, Aarti Rana, Sanjana Thapa, Sanam Thapa, Ichchha Thapa, Laxman Rai, Jeevan Thapa, Min Ringjali, Nirmal Thapa, Sachin Limbu, Sunil Thapa, Lab Thapa, Kush Thapa, Robin Gurung, Madhu Thapa, and Manoj Gurung.

The oath-taking ceremony was administered by Vinod Gyawali, the Election Committee Chief and Club Patron. The election committee, led by Gyawali, also included Karma Pahadi Sherpa as Member Secretary and Raj Katwal as a Member.

On the same occasion, the club appointed Jeevan Gurung as Coach and Prem Gurung as Manager, further strengthening the team’s technical and managerial structure.

Outgoing President Ravindra Roka Magar congratulated the newly elected committee and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure. He formally handed over all responsibilities of the club to President Umesh Chand Thakuri and General Secretary Amar Gurung.

Addressing the gathering, newly elected President Thakuri expressed his commitment to move forward by prioritising the interests and sentiments of the club and its players. He assured members that unity, discipline, and player development would remain central to the club’s vision.

Earlier, during the first phase of the programme, the Annual General Meeting was held under the chairmanship of outgoing President Ravindra Roka Magar. The meeting reviewed the club’s activities and discussed future plans. The session was inaugurated by lighting a traditional lamp by President Roka Magar and Patron Vinod Gyawali.

Former General Secretary Umesh Chand Thakuri presented the progress report, while Vijay Thapa presented the financial report in the absence of Treasurer Giri Pun. Patron Vinod Gyawali shared insights into the club’s journey from its establishment to the present day.

Outgoing President Roka Magar presented a detailed report highlighting key achievements during his tenure. Vice President Sarala Roka Magar and advisors Karma Pahadi Sherpa and Raj Katwal also delivered congratulatory messages.

Founded in 2017 by Nepali volleyball enthusiasts residing in South East London, Greenwich Volleyball Pariwar has earned a strong reputation within the UK’s Nepali community. Over the years, the club has secured first place in several tournaments organised across the United Kingdom, emerging as a symbol of sporting excellence and community unity.
