The Pakistani American Association of Tampa Bay (PAA) successfully hosts their annual Eid Mela (festival) at Tabellas in Brandon. It was a grand success, a impressive crowd of 2100 attendees participated at the Eid Mela.

The event, held on April 12, 2024, marked a joyous celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, following the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan. The event proved to be a delightful affair for families and community members alike.

Eid-ul-Fitr holds great significance in the Muslim calendar, serving as the first of two religious holidays for adherents worldwide. At the heart of the festivities was a vibrant display of cultural pride, as families adorned in traditional attire gathered to revel in the spirit of togetherness and festivity.

Event highlights

Guests were treated to a feast for the senses, with an array of delectable Pakistani and Mediterranean cuisine. Along with stalls showcasing exquisite clothing, jewelry, and Henna tattoos. Local non-profits also joined the celebration, enriching the event with their presence and contributions.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the captivating performances of Pakistani cultural dances, representing the diverse provinces of the country. Accompanied by the mesmerizing beats of DJ Mazher, attendees were transported on a cultural journey that left a lasting impression.

Mehwish Raja, President of PAA, expressed her delight at the overwhelming success of the Eid Mela. She said that, “I’m thrilled to share that our Eid Mela was a resounding success! The community turnout exceeded our expectations, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Attendees echoed Raja’s sentiments, with many hailing the event as “the best one yet” and eagerly anticipating future celebrations. The PAA extended their heartfelt gratitude to sponsors, volunteers, and supporters whose dedication and efforts contributed to the event’s phenomenal success.

As the festivities drew to a close, the PAA announced plans for their upcoming summer event, a celebration marking Pakistan’s Independence Day in August.
