Ranbir Kapoor, Yash to Unveil Ramayana First Look at San Diego Comic-Con: Indian cinema is set to make a landmark global statement as the first official look of Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated mythological epic Ramayana will be unveiled at the prestigious San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on July 23, 2026. The highly anticipated presentation will feature lead actors Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, acclaimed filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, and producer Namit Malhotra, marking one of the biggest international showcases for an Indian film.
The exclusive panel will take place in Ballroom 20, one of Comic-Con’s premier venues with a seating capacity of approximately 4,800 attendees. Scheduled to begin at 3:15 PM PDT (3:15 AM IST), the event will offer audiences an exclusive first glimpse into what is being described as one of the most ambitious cinematic projects ever undertaken in Indian film history. The showcase reflects the filmmakers’ vision of introducing India’s timeless epic to a truly global audience.
According to the official SDCC panel description, the story follows Rama, a prince guided by duty, sacrifice, and righteousness, as he confronts Ravana, the powerful and immortal ruler driven by pride and vengeance in a battle that determines the fate of the world. The presentation promises audiences a sweeping reimagining of one of humanity’s oldest and most enduring epics.
Producer Namit Malhotra, founder of Prime Focus and Global CEO of the Oscar-winning visual effects studio DNEG, will join Ranbir Kapoor, who portrays Lord Ram, Kannada superstar Yash as Ravana, and director Nitesh Tiwari to introduce the film. Their appearance at SDCC underscores the production’s ambition to position Ramayana as a global cinematic spectacle.
Mounted on an estimated budget of ₹4,000 crore, Ramayana ranks among the most expensive film projects ever produced in India. The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Sai Pallavi as Sita and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, while the musical score brings together two legendary composers—Academy Award-winning Hans Zimmer and Oscar-winning Indian maestro A.R. Rahman.
The epic has been conceived as a two-part cinematic saga. Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release during Diwali 2026, with Part 2 following during Diwali 2027. Ahead of its international debut at Comic-Con, the makers are also expected to host a grand domestic launch event at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on July 18, 2026, where the film’s trailer will reportedly be unveiled before Indian audiences and media.
The participation of Ramayana at San Diego Comic-Con represents a significant milestone for Indian cinema, highlighting the industry’s growing global ambitions. With cutting-edge visual effects, an internationally acclaimed creative team, and one of India’s most revered stories at its core, Ramayana is positioning itself as a landmark production aimed at captivating audiences across continents.
As anticipation continues to build, the Comic-Con presentation is expected to generate worldwide attention and mark the beginning of the film’s international promotional campaign, setting the stage for one of the biggest cinematic releases in Indian film history.
