CIS congratulates Sheikha Shaikha Al-Sabah on Padma Shri honor

CIS congratulates Sheikha Shaikha Al-Sabah on Padma Shri honor. In a gesture of admiration and respect, a delegation from the Centre for India Studies (CIS) visited Sheikha Shaikha Ali Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at Daratma in Kuwait City to congratulate her on being conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award by the Government of India. The Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honors, recognizes Sheikha Shaikha’s exceptional contributions to the promotion of yoga and cultural initiatives.

The delegation, led by T R Sanju Raj, President of CIS, and R Roopesh, General Secretary of CIS, presented Sheikha Shaikha with an appreciation letter acknowledging her dedication to advancing yoga and wellness. Mani Ashadeep, Advisor to CIS, also presented a book on yoga to commemorate the occasion.

In addition, the delegation handed over a special letter of appreciation from SVYASA, India’s premier yoga university, on behalf of its president, Dr. H R Nagendra. The letter highlighted Sheikha Shaikha’s tireless efforts in fostering cultural exchange and promoting wellness initiatives, which have significantly contributed to strengthening the bond between India and Kuwait.

The visit underscored the deepening cultural ties between the two nations and celebrated Sheikha Shaikha’s role as a bridge between Indian and Kuwaiti traditions. Her work in promoting yoga has not only enhanced global well-being but also showcased the shared heritage of both countries.
