UAE Will Emerge Stronger, Says Indian Consul General at ICAI Dubai Event: The United Arab Emirates will overcome current regional challenges and emerge stronger, reaffirmed Satish Kumar Sivan, Indian Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, while addressing over 500 members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Dubai Chapter.

Speaking at a gathering of accounting professionals, Sivan highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between India and the UAE, noting that Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) constitute nearly 40 percent of the UAE’s population. He emphasized that the Indian community continues to stand firmly with the UAE even amid regional tensions.

“India has been an integral part of the UAE. NRIs consider this country their home, and that is why many are choosing to stay despite the current situation,” he said. “The UAE has consistently demonstrated resilience—from the Global Financial Crisis of 2008 to the COVID-19 pandemic—and it will once again bounce back faster than expected.”

Accountants Play Key Role in Times of Crisis

Sivan noted that when the situation escalated in late February, the Indian Consulate proactively engaged with the professional community, particularly chartered accountants, for insights and guidance.

“In times of uncertainty, accounting professionals are among the first we turn to. Their understanding of financial systems helps navigate complex challenges, and their inputs have been valuable in shaping responses shared with the government,” he said.

New Leadership Takes Charge at ICAI Dubai

The event also marked the beginning of a new leadership term at the ICAI Dubai Chapter, with Rishi Chawla assuming office as Chairman for 2026–2027. He will be supported by Vice Chairman Amit Khaitan, Secretary Aashna Mulgaonkar, and Treasurer Sanjay Gagarani.

Rishi Chawla подчеркнул the evolving importance of finance professionals in a rapidly changing global environment. “Accounting professionals are the financial engineers of today’s economy. Their role has become central to helping businesses navigate uncertainty, adopt technology, and build resilience,” he said.

Finance Leaders Highlight Growing Complexity

Anil Mohta, Group Chief Financial Officer of DP World, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing how disruption has become a constant in today’s business landscape.

“Disruption is no longer an exception—it is the operating environment,” Mohta said. “For finance leaders, resilience is now a financial discipline, requiring strong balance sheets, flexible capital allocation, and efficient cash management.”

ICAI Dubai: A Pillar of Professional Excellence

With over 3,200 members representing more than 1,550 multinational companies, the ICAI Dubai Chapter stands as the largest and most active overseas chapter of ICAI. Established in 1982, it has played a vital role in shaping the UAE’s financial ecosystem and fostering professional excellence.

As the UAE continues to strengthen its position as a global business hub, the ICAI Dubai Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to supporting members through continuous learning, industry collaboration, and thought leadership initiatives aligned with the nation’s long-term vision.

The event underscored not only the resilience of the UAE economy but also the critical role of financial professionals in steering businesses and communities through uncertain times.
