Hyderabad’s Mehrunisha Begum Wins Silver for India in Logistics & Freight Forwarding at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026: Hyderabad’s Mehrunisha Begum has won a Silver Medal for India in Logistics and Freight Forwarding at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, marking a significant achievement for India’s young skilled workforce on the international stage.
Held in Shanghai, China, from September 22 to 27, 2026, WorldSkills Shanghai brought together around 1,400 young professionals from nearly 70 countries and regions, competing across 64 skills spanning manufacturing, technology, services, construction, transportation and logistics.
Often described as a global championship for skilled professions, WorldSkills provides young professionals with an international platform to demonstrate their technical knowledge, practical abilities and industry competencies.
From Hyderabad to the World Stage
Mehrunisha, who completed her BBA in Logistics from Begumpet Degree College, Hyderabad, currently works with Cargomen Logistics India Pvt. Ltd.
At Cargomen, she handles the Thermo Fisher Scientific account, gaining practical experience in international logistics operations, customer coordination, documentation and freight-management processes.
Her professional experience was complemented by intensive WorldSkills preparation under Kamal Jain and the training team. Her preparation covered a broad range of logistics and freight-forwarding competencies, including international freight forwarding, air and ocean cargo, multimodal transportation, freight calculations, Incoterms, customs procedures, documentation, dangerous goods, customer communication and practical problem-solving.
Representing India in Shanghai, Mehrunisha competed against highly skilled participants from around the world, demonstrating her capabilities in areas including logistics planning, freight forwarding, documentation, routing, commercial decision-making and customer handling.
Training and Industry Support
The Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) provided training and institutional support throughout Mehrunisha’s WorldSkills journey.
LSC works to promote skill development and industry-aligned competencies in India’s logistics sector, an industry that plays a critical role in the movement of goods and the functioning of domestic and international supply chains.
Logistics and Freight Forwarding competitors at WorldSkills are assessed on practical occupational competencies such as freight planning, international transportation, documentation, customs compliance, cargo handling, costing, routing, Incoterms, customer service and operational problem-solving.
