Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ Gets PG-13 Rating in the US, Runtime Reportedly Exceeds Three Hours Ahead of November 5 Release: Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor’s highly anticipated film Ramayana: Part 1 has reportedly received a PG-13 rating in the United States, while cinema listings indicate a running time of approximately three hours and 15 minutes. The latest developments have generated fresh interest in the ambitious cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic ahead of its scheduled worldwide release on November 5, 2026.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is being developed as a two-part cinematic interpretation of the Ramayana, bringing together a prominent cast and an international creative team. The project aims to introduce the timeless story of Lord Rama, Sita and Ravana to audiences across India and international markets.

‘Ramayana’ Receives PG-13 Rating in the United States

According to entertainment media reports, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) has assigned the film’s English-language version, titled Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, a PG-13 classification.

The rating is reportedly based on sequences of strong violence and action, along with some bloody images. Under the US classification system, PG-13 indicates that some material may be inappropriate for children under 13, and parental guidance is advised.

The classification offers an indication of the film’s action-oriented presentation, particularly its large-scale confrontations and battle sequences drawn from the epic narrative. However, the US rating should not be confused with an Indian Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certificate.

Runtime Reportedly Exceeds Three Hours

The film’s reported duration has become another talking point. US cinema listings, as referenced by entertainment publications, indicate a running time of approximately three hours and 15 minutes for the Hindi version of Ramayana.

Earlier reports suggested that the English-language version, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, could have a shorter runtime of approximately two hours and 45 minutes. The difference has been attributed in reports to the possible inclusion of songs and an interval in the Hindi version.

However, the filmmakers have not officially confirmed all the reported differences between the versions. The final runtimes and the extent of any editorial changes remain subject to confirmation.

If the three-hour-and-15-minute duration is retained, the film will offer audiences an extended theatrical experience, reflecting the scale of the story and its elaborate cinematic presentation.

Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana

The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Sunny Deol plays Hanuman, while Arun Govil is part of the cast as King Dasharatha.

Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama is one of the production’s central attractions. The actor faces the challenge of portraying a figure who holds deep religious and cultural significance for millions of people.

Yash’s casting as Ravana adds another major star to the ensemble, while Sai Pallavi’s portrayal of Sita brings a leading performer known for her work across Indian film industries into the production.

The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for Dangal, and produced by Namit Malhotra. Its music brings together Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, while visual effects are being handled by DNEG, the studio known for its work on major international productions.

Worldwide Release Scheduled for November 5, 2026

The makers have announced that Ramayana: Part 1 will arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, across premium formats. Advance bookings are scheduled to open on Dussehra, according to reports.

The release date has attracted considerable attention as the production prepares for a major international theatrical launch, targeting audiences in India and overseas markets.

The second instalment is planned for release during Diwali 2027, making Ramayana a two-part cinematic project intended to tell the larger epic narrative across separate theatrical releases.

‘Ramayana’ Aims for a Global Audience

With its high-profile cast, international music collaborators, extensive visual effects and worldwide distribution strategy, Ramayana is positioning itself as a major event for Indian cinema.

The US rating and reported runtime provide an early glimpse into how the film may be presented to international audiences. Its eventual reception will depend on the storytelling, performances, technical execution and how effectively the adaptation balances cinematic spectacle with the cultural and spiritual significance of the ancient epic.

As the November release approaches, audiences will be watching for further details about the film’s final runtime, language versions, advance bookings and theatrical presentation.

For Ranbir Kapoor, the film represents a significant opportunity to portray one of India’s most revered mythological figures in a production designed for audiences around the world.
