Townsville Bathukamma 2022 festival celebrated

Australia

Bathukamma celebrations were held in a grand manner under the auspices of the Telugu community in Townsville, Queensland. This year, not only members of the Telugu community but also friends from other states of India and regional Australians danced, sang, and indulged in the Saddula Bathukamma celebrations.

Telegu revelers came not only from Townsville but also from other surrounding towns, and they worshiped the Saddula with great devotion.

Telugu community member Raghava made this year’s Townsville Bathukamma even bigger and better than the previous year’s. People were surprised to see such a big Bathukamma and took photos and celebrated the Bathukamma celebrations by singing and dancing together.

This year, the participation of more elderly people made not just the parents but the grandchildren happy indeed. They expressed their happiness that the elders were here with them during the festival, and the elders appeared equally happy to see the Telugu people celebrating Batukamma in a traditional manner while living abroad.

Telugu girls showed the history of the Bathukamma festival and traditions with their demonstrations to the guests and explained the features of the festival to the children, regional Australians, and other Indians in an articulate and impressive manner. Traditional Telegu meals were served to all those who came.

Townsville City Council supported the Bathukamma celebrations this year too.
