Hollywood Director To Produce Remake of Bollywood Actioner ‘Kill’. The soon-to-be-released Bollywood movie ‘Kill’ is getting a Hollywood remake. Chad Stahelski, the renowned director of the Keanu Reeves-starrer ‘John Wick,’ along with his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, is set to produce the remake. This exciting announcement comes even before the original Hindi-language ‘Kill,’ directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, hits theaters.
Marking a significant milestone, the film’s theatrical rollout represents one of the first times a mainstream Hindi-language film has partnered with a Hollywood studio for a theatrical release in North America and the UK.
In ‘Kill,’ a commando named Amrit (played by Lakshya) discovers that his star-crossed lover Tulika (played by Tanya Maniktala) is being forced into an unwanted engagement. Determined to stop the arranged marriage and reunite with his true love, Amrit boards a New Delhi-bound train. However, his mission takes a dramatic turn when a gang of knife-wielding thieves begins terrorizing innocent passengers. Amrit must rise to the occasion, confronting the gang to save those around him.
Producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta of Dharma Productions, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain expressed their excitement in a joint statement: “When we made ‘Kill’ with Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, we dreamed of global love, and seeing North American theatres chant ‘Kill! Kill! Kill!’ was like seeing that vision come alive. This announcement coming before the original film’s release is unprecedented and a big win for Indian cinema. We are truly honored.”
Chad Stahelski praised the original film, stating, “‘Kill’ is one of the most vivid, wild, and creative action movies I’ve seen recently. Nikhil delivers relentless action sequences that need to be seen by as wide an audience as possible.
