Indian School Darsait Honours Academic Achievers at Excellence Award Ceremony 2026: Indian School Darsait celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of its students at the Academic Excellence Award Ceremony 2026, held on Thursday, August 6, at the school’s Senior School Auditorium.
The ceremony recognised high-performing students from Classes III to XII and highlighted the school’s continued commitment to academic excellence, holistic development and nurturing future leaders.
The event was attended by Ms. Kawthar Bint Khalifa Bin Khamas Al Sulaimani, Assistant Director, Department of International Schools Affairs, Ministry of Education, Sultanate of Oman, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Hamad Bin Khalfan Al Wahaibi, Member of the Municipal Council, Governorate of Muscat, Wilayat of Muttrah, and Mr. Syed Ahmad Salman, Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools Oman, were the Guests of Honour.
The distinguished gathering included members of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools Oman, school management representatives, senior educators, teachers, parents and students.
The programme began with the Royal Anthem of Oman and the National Anthem of India, followed by the invocation dance Vande Vagdevata and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Gianna Luisa Joy, Cultural Secretary of the Student Council, welcomed the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, dignitaries, award recipients, parents and invitees.
Emphasis on Teachers and Parents
Delivering the Presidential Address, Mr. Shalimar Moideen, President of the School Management Committee, praised the dedication of teachers and highlighted the important role parents play as children’s first and most influential mentors.
He noted that the combined efforts of teachers and parents through guidance, encouragement and support are essential in developing responsible and successful citizens. Addressing students, he urged them to embrace hard work, perseverance, dedication and integrity as the foundations for lifelong success.
The Chief Guest, Ms. Kawthar Bint Khalifa Bin Khamas Al Sulaimani, also recalled her own experience as a teacher and expressed appreciation for the dedication of educators and parents in shaping the lives and futures of young people.
Students and Teachers Felicitated
The highlight of the ceremony was the felicitation of the school’s academic achievers. Students from Classes III to XII were recognised for exceptional performance, including CBSE Class X and XII school toppers, national subject toppers, subject toppers and students who achieved A1 grades in all subjects.
Teachers were also honoured for their exceptional commitment and contribution to student achievement.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, the School Choir presented a motivational performance, encouraging students to continue pursuing excellence.
The formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ragul Rajkumar, HSE Secretary.
Call for Competency-Based Education
Following the ceremony, Mr. Syed Ahmad Salman interacted with students and teachers and congratulated the award recipients on their achievements. He encouraged students to maintain their momentum and work towards securing greater accomplishments in the future.
During his interaction with teachers, the Chairman emphasised the importance of ensuring that every child receives equal opportunities to participate in school activities and discover their individual potential.
He also called upon educators to move beyond conventional, book-based learning and adopt competency-based teaching approaches that develop critical thinking, problem-solving capabilities and practical life skills.
Dr. Surendra Swami, Director, Board of Directors and Director-in-Charge, Indian School Darsait, urged teachers to reach out to every student with care, empathy and understanding. He cited the life and values of Anna Hazare as an example of selfless service, perseverance and integrity.
The Academic Excellence Award Ceremony 2026 concluded as a celebration of merit, dedication and perseverance, while inspiring students to set higher goals and continue their pursuit of academic and personal excellence.
