President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu Confers 72nd National Film Awards: The 72nd National Film Awards for the year 2024 celebrated the breadth and diversity of Indian cinema, with major honours going to films and artists across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali and several other Indian languages.
The awards were presented on September 22 at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, where President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu conferred the honours. The ceremony also featured the presentation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award to veteran actor Anant Nag.
The awards were announced on July 18, 2026, with the jury chaired by Jayaraj for Feature Films, Aseem Sinha for Non-Feature Films and A. Chandrasekhar for Best Writing on Cinema.
