Qatar Cricket Association to host inaugural Gulf T20 Championship

The Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) has exciting news to share as they prepare to host the Gulf T20 Championship later this year. Following the successful Legends League Masters event in March 2023, where 60 cricket legends from around the world participated, QCA is now uniting the Gulf nations to hold the inaugural edition of the Gulf T20 Championship from September 13th to 23rd.

As cricket continues to gain immense popularity in the Middle East, QCA aims to establish itself as a prominent force in associate cricket and position Qatar as an excellent destination for hosting international cricket events.

The Gulf T20 Championship is set to showcase all the Gulf nations over a thrilling 10-day period. Sixteen live matches will feature senior men’s teams from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the host country, Qatar.

“This tournament will exemplify the strong bond and cooperation among the GCC countries, fostering relationships and promoting the development of the sport in the region. The goal is to make this an annual event on the global cricket calendar, with each country taking turns to host,” stated QCA President Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saoud Al Thani.

The tournament marks a significant milestone for cricket in the Middle East, promising to bring forth exciting advancements. All matches will take place at the West End International Cricket Stadium and will be broadcast live in nine countries.

With guaranteed entertainment and a captivating display of cricket, the Gulf T20 Championship is poised to captivate a global audience and provide an unforgettable experience for all cricket enthusiasts.
