UK Charity Dinner Raises Support for Autistic Children in Nepal: The Nepalese Women Association UK organized a special charity dinner at the Embassy of Nepal in London to raise awareness and support for autistic children in Nepal. The event brought together members of the Nepali community, supporters, and advocates committed to improving the lives of children and families affected by autism.
The charity event, held on Friday evening at the Nepalese Embassy, highlighted the growing need for autism awareness, education, and support services in Nepal while strengthening ties between the Nepali diaspora and charitable initiatives back home.
Speaking at the event, Bipin Duwadi, Acting Ambassador of Nepal to the United Kingdom, praised the Association’s continued efforts to support autistic children and their families. He noted that the Government of Nepal has set a goal of establishing specialized autism schools across all seven provinces of the country. Duwadi also revealed that the United Kingdom has expressed its commitment to supporting Nepal in advancing autism-related education and services.

Maya Bhusal, patron of the Nepalese Women Association UK and spouse of the Acting Ambassador, emphasized the importance of increasing public awareness about autism in Nepal. She stressed that autistic individuals require love, understanding, and proper care from both families and society. Bhusal commended the Association for its ongoing charitable work and dedication to supporting vulnerable children.
The event also featured a presentation by Dr. Sunita Maleku Amatya, President of Autism Care Nepal Society, who outlined the organization’s efforts to improve the lives of autistic individuals across Nepal. She explained that Autism Care Nepal Society, established in 2008, was the country’s first organization dedicated exclusively to autism support and advocacy.

Dr. Amatya highlighted the Society’s work in autism identification, assessment, therapy services, counseling, educational support, capacity-building programs, public awareness campaigns, outreach initiatives, and parent networking. She stated that the organization’s primary mission is to help autistic individuals achieve independent, dignified, and fulfilling lives while providing support to their families and caregivers.
Addressing the gathering, Aarti Shrestha, President of the Nepalese Women Association UK, announced that funds raised through the charity dinner would be donated to Autism Care Nepal Society to support autistic children and related programs in Nepal.
She expressed gratitude to the Embassy of Nepal, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and members of the Nepali community whose contributions made the event a success. Shrestha also recalled that the Association has consistently provided financial assistance to autistic children in Nepal through previous charitable initiatives.
The charity dinner served as a powerful reminder of the role that diaspora communities can play in supporting social causes in their home countries. Beyond fundraising, the event helped promote greater awareness of autism and encouraged continued collaboration between organizations in Nepal and the United Kingdom.
As awareness of autism continues to grow globally, initiatives such as this charity dinner demonstrate the commitment of the Nepali community abroad to creating a more inclusive and supportive future for autistic children and their families in Nepal.
