‘Fmr Secretary (MEA), Ambassador Dr. Ausaf Sayeed’s Book on Indian Art and Culture Launched in Chicago: An evening celebrating India’s rich artistic, cultural and historical heritage was held at Northwest Suburban College in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, with the formal launch of Indian Art and Culture: A Journey Through Time and Tradition, authored by distinguished diplomat, scholar and author Ambassador Dr. Ausaf Sayeed.
The book was formally launched by Ambassador Somnath Ghosh, Consul General of India in Chicago, in the presence of prominent academics, community leaders, elected representatives, educators and members of the Indian American community.
Among the distinguished guests were Prof. Sampath Ramesh of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management; Councilman Ashfaq Syed of the City of Naperville; Raees Yawer, Streamwood Park District Commissioner; Syed Shanawaz Khan; Chicago community leader Mir Khan; M.T. AliNiazee, President of Northwest Suburban College; and other prominent community leaders and guests.
The gathering brought together members of the Chicagoland community to celebrate Ambassador Dr. Sayeed’s latest literary contribution and his longstanding engagement with India’s history, culture, diplomacy and heritage.
Celebrating India’s Civilizational Heritage
The evening provided attendees with an opportunity to meet the author, learn about the inspiration behind the publication and explore the diverse artistic and cultural traditions that have shaped India over thousands of years.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Guest Ambassador Somnath Ghosh praised Dr. Sayeed for his contribution to documenting and promoting India’s cultural heritage.
“Ambassador Dr. Ausaf Sayeed has brought his deep understanding of India and his distinguished diplomatic experience to this important work,” Ambassador Ghosh said. He noted that the book reflects the “richness, diversity, and continuity” of India’s civilizational heritage and could help introduce the country’s cultural traditions to readers across generations.

In Indian Art and Culture: A Journey Through Time and Tradition, Ambassador Dr. Sayeed takes readers through India’s extraordinary cultural landscape, exploring the depth and diversity of its artistic traditions and the enduring influence of its heritage.
The book reflects the author’s passion for documenting India’s cultural legacy and presenting its many traditions to audiences both in India and around the world.
“India’s art and culture tell the story of a civilization that has evolved over thousands of years while continuing to inspire the world,” Ambassador Dr. Sayeed said. “This book is an effort to celebrate that remarkable heritage and encourage greater appreciation and understanding of India’s cultural traditions.”
Community Celebrates Cultural Heritage
The book launch also served as an important gathering for the Indian American community and friends of India in the greater Chicago area. Speakers and guests emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage and ensuring that younger generations remain connected to India’s history and traditions.
The event highlighted the role of literature, scholarship and cultural exchange in strengthening connections between India and the Indian diaspora.
