Embassy of India, Tokyo hosted a reception to commemorate the 74th Republic Day of India

A Reception was hosted by H. E. Mr. Sibi George, Ambassador of India to Japan to mark the celebration of the 74th Republic Day of India. H.E. Mr. Shunsuke Takei, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor.

The Reception was attended by over 500 guests.

The august gathering was graced by the presence of H.E. Mr. Hiroyuki Hosoda, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairperson of the Japan-India Parliamentary Friendship Association; H.E. Mr. Yoshihide Suga, former Prime Minister of Japan and Chairperson of the Japan-India Association; H.E. Mr. Nishimura Yasutoshi, Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry; H.E. Mr. Kenji Yamada, State Minister for Foreign Affairs; H.E. Mr. Gen Nakatani, Special Adviser of Prime Minister of Japan, and members of Japan India Parliamentary Friendship group and members of Diet. Other dignitaries included senior government functionaries, the diplomatic corps, the business community, eminent academicians, cultural personalities, the scientific community, the media and prominent members of the Indian diaspora in Japan.

Ambassador Sibi George underlined the strengthening of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and the tremendous opportunity for utilizing the Embassy of India Tokyo convergences as India and Japan chair the G20 and G7 this year, respectively.

H.E. Mr. Shunsuke Takei expressed that Japan would like to advance concrete cooperation in a wide range of areas to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific. H.E. Mr. Hiroyuki Hosoda referred to the Japan-India partnership as the most promising bilateral relationship. H.E. Mr. Yoshihide Suga called for Japan and India to work closely together in bilateral and multilateral frameworks together in order to address important issues of the international community. In his congratulatory remarks, H.E. Mr. Nishimura Yasutoshi mentioned about deepening Japan-India Special Strategic and Global Partnership, including through cooperation in Quad and IPEF.

The event showcased an exhibition on India- Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and cultural performances on Indian dances and music. A series of videos, including on the unveiling of Logo of India’s G20 Presidency- “one earth-one family- one future”, tourism and India Japan- infrastructure projects. 5. This year, India and Japan are celebrating 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations. India and Japan are chairing the G20 and G7 respectively.
