History of National Startup Day
National Startup Day was established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, as a way to celebrate the successes of the startup community in India. The first National Startup Day was observed in 2022, and PM Modi praised the expansion of startups over the previous few years as he spoke with aspiring business owners via video conference.
Significance of National Startup Day
National Startup Day is an opportunity for startup business owners to discuss innovation and their contribution to the economy. It also highlights the importance of startup initiatives and how they contribute to society at large. Additionally, it encourages young people to pursue entrepreneurship as a career option. This day is also celebrated to applaud and promote the Indian startup ecosystem.
The Startup India Innovation Week is organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in the entire week of National Startup Day January 10 to 16. The first day of the week features events, including a webinar on Founders of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow” despite the lack of a set theme for the day.
