Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah launched

UAE

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has officially launched the Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah. This initiative marks a significant milestone in expanding economic cooperation between the emirate and Pakistan, aiming to boost trade, investment, and private sector growth.

The launch event took place at SCCI’s headquarters and was attended by key figures, including Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, and Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan in the UAE. The ceremony also saw participation from Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice Chairman of SCCI, alongside members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors and representatives of the Pakistani business community in Sharjah.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais emphasized that the new Pakistan Business Council would be a vital platform for companies to collaborate and form win-win partnerships. He noted that this council is part of SCCI’s broader strategy to enhance cross-border partnerships among entrepreneurs, strengthen investment ties, and foster global economic cooperation.

“The launch of the Pakistan Business Council is a critical step towards building sustainable partnerships and boosting trade between our business communities,” said Al Owais. He further added that the council would facilitate deeper engagement for Pakistani business leaders in Sharjah and open doors to new investment opportunities.

The value of non-oil trade between the UAE and Pakistan reached AED25.7 billion in 2022, reflecting a 30% increase from the previous year. This growth underscores the strong commitment from both countries to strengthen their economic ties, with the UAE committing a US$10 billion investment in Pakistan’s key sectors.

Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador, lauded the SCCI’s efforts, highlighting how the council will drive innovation and create employment opportunities. Syed Muhammad Tahir, Chairman of the Founding Committee of the Pakistan Business Council, echoed this sentiment, pointing out that the council will play a pivotal role in engaging the private sector in Sharjah’s economy.

With its strategic advantages, supportive legislation, and strong infrastructure, Sharjah offers an ideal environment for Pakistani entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and explore regional markets. The council is expected to pave the way for future collaboration and joint ventures, further enhancing the already robust relations between the UAE and Pakistan.
