A Major Box Office Test for Indian Mythological Cinema

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana: Part 1 features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.

The ensemble also includes Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Kajal Aggarwal and Vivek Oberoi.

With its large-scale production, multilingual release and international distribution ambitions, the film represents one of the most ambitious projects in contemporary Indian cinema.

Its opening-day worldwide gross of ₹127.50 crore provides a promising beginning. However, sustaining strong collections over the first weekend and subsequent holiday period will be crucial in determining its ultimate box-office success.
